DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): In a bid to provide financial independence to the rural farmers of Assam, a training programme for milk producers was organised by the Dairy Development Department under the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) in collaboration with the District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department in Hazarikapara village of Bordulguri block located in the Darrang district of Assam.
During the 5-day training from May 8-12, four trainers including coordinator Kunal Kashyap, assistant district coordinator, Bhaskarjati Goswami and veterinary officers, Dr Baharul Islam and Dr Mafidul Hoque enlightened and trained the milk farmers in order to bring the villagers under an organised sector and form a dairy cooperative society, a press release informed. Around 30 people actively participated in the event.
The training programme kicked off on May 8 with a learning session on clean and hygienic milk production. The sessions covered a wide range of topics such as the breeds of cattle, management of dairy cattle for improved productivity and reproductive health, and reduction of diseases in dairy animals.
Moreover, the villagers were also made aware of the human health risks posed by dairy animals and procedures for minimising them and various entrepreneurial ventures of dairy farming among others, the press release stated.
