Nagaland Horticulture & Women Resource Development Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse on May 23 inspected the completed Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road from Khonoma to Peducha via Mezoma, Sechüma and Kiruphema under Kohima district.
The inspection and act of thanksgiving was undertaken along with party leaders of Naga People’s Front (NPF) 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency, PWD (R&B) officials, executing contractor M/S Vilelie Khamo & Sons, KMC councillors and other functionaries.
This PMGSY road project has a total length of 28.12 kilometres and constructed by M/s Vilelie Khamo & Sons as contractor and executed by CE PWD (R&B) Government of Nagaland as Quality Control & Monitoring Authority.
The work was commenced on March 30, 2024 and completed on September 30, 2025.
The project covers the villages of Khonoma, Mezoma, Sechüma, Kiruphema and Peducha.
Costing Rs 2253.99 lakh, the project was funded by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The project is a single-lane rural road. Technical details stated that the work was executed as per DPR and Specification.
Officials stated that the road is expected to significantly ease transportation for farming activities, reduce travel time, boost tourism potential and easy access to each other and urban centres.
The maintenance responsibility of the road is for five years.
Earlier, addressing the series of meetings with the villagers, Kruse thanked Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio for inclusion of the project on priority list.
Kruse, who is an elected representative from 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency, said that the completion of the PMGSY road has fulfilled the long pending desires of the community in owning all-weather road.
She said that the villagers can now travel comfortably, do business easily and connect with others easily. The Minister also thanked the contractor for a quality work. Further, Kruse called upon the people to maintain peace and unity for all round development.
