EASTERN THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
Composed on September 17, 1956, at Jorhat
Down in the plains , Close to the shiny hills,
Back in the fall of fifty,
To the saints cry both in the plains and Hills,
As a lone star bright and free,
E.T.C was born. The saints cry fulfils.
As heav'nly region its campus and yard
Are verged with evergreen shrubs;
Where the song birds sing gladd'ning every heart,
And gliding with glittering drops
Euprates like Toklai flows through its heart.
God's people from all over the lands here
Drawn where they their Savior meet;
Where themselves for eternity prepare;
Where they bow at the Lord's feet
And hear, "Go and preach to every creature”
Day unto day they toil, - toil in the mine
Of unfathomable Word .
Who can know God's mind, - His Wisdom Divine
Except through His Holy Word?
But blessed art Thou, blessed word is Thine.
Like morning SUN your glory ever be
Till thou reach the noon day bright .
You who bring many souls to Jesus, See
Your reward , - The glorious light.
For the day is coming to reward thee .
CLARK THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
Composed on Sept 28, 2007 , 9:30 PM
CTC was conceived in the womb of PRAYER .
She was born upon the cradle of REVIVAL,
And brought up for the Great Commission of our Lord .
Bless her Lord to fulfill the purpose of Your CALL .
She was surrounded by impossibilities
But the gracious Lord met her needs out of dry rocks,
And filled her deserts with Manna from heaven .
Blessed be the Lord of CTC forever!
The faithful God never left CTC uncared .
He sent His faithful servants , - Anang and Likok,
Who selflessly invested their utmost for her.
Oh forget not their rented hearts and wetted eyes!
We thank You Lord for all selfless faithful servants
Who sacrifice their lives for her from birth to date
To multiply innumerable harvesters
For the vast ripen fields of this generation.
Equip CTC with the Divine GIFTS and FRUITS, -
The fullness of Wisdom, Knowledge, Vision and Power
To share the Living Bread and the Living Water
With the perishing souls of this generation .
UNION BIBLICAL SEMINARY
Composed on December 23, 1963, at Yeotmal
Back in the year nineteen thirty eight ,
In the cradle town of Yeotmal,
The destined Child UBS was born
For a hope International .
Like the growing sun of the morning
This child grew to be a true light.
And shines in every nook and corner
With the Gospel of divine light
But Oh for the brighter light we cry !
For the greater vision we yearn !
For the higher God's power we pray !
And weep for the passion to learn !
Grant, Oh Lord, Oh grant to UBS
The Worldwide vision of the lost ,
The unquenchable passions for souls,
And God’s POWER to win the lost .
THE LIFE RESTORED
Composed at Jorhat on September 29, 1956 .
Ere the man fell in the first land,
Ere the man clothed the sin and death,
Oh happy was the man! Beautiful was the land!
He reigned with peace and joy! He sang with bliss and blithe.
God's glory he beheld; the angels song he heard,
And the rest divine he had shared!
So was the man in paradise.
Bat this man sinned and fell and died!
Then flew the stream of curse and death
Unto all men on earth! Curses on all betide!
Evils and sufferings, the bitter pang of death
Came upon all men in land, in sea and in home
And they were bound to God's wrath to come!
Oh how they groaned but lost in sin!
Moved with love God sent His own Son
That He King , Lord and Savior be
To all the people underneath the glowing sun
And that sinners be saved, and He their Savior be
He died, He rose, He lives, He sits in heav'n adored.
Hark! the golden age is restored !
The problem solved, the life restored!
(Mission Calling by Rev Dr T. Alem Meren is a collection of poems written over the years to inspire people especially young Nagas to take up mission work. Every Tuesday, the Morung Express will feature this column. As the writer states: “God laid upon my heart a burden to challenge the young people of Nagaland for Christ’s Ministry beyond our home”).
