OH, HOW SWEET IS TO BE THERE
Composed on 12 Jan 1957, Jorhat
1.Oh, How sweet is to be there
In quite hour of prayer,
Sharing with Him all our cares,
Our pains, our woes and our hopes!
2. Oh, How sweet is to be there
With Christ, our Lord saviour
Sharing His peace, joy and rest
Which flow from His wounded hands!
3. Oh, How sweet is to be there
Communing with our dear Lord,
And worshipping at His feet.
What a foretaste of heaven!
IN ALL THY WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM
Composed on Jan 18, 1957, Jorhat
The blessed joy of a loving heart,
The serene peace of a trustful mind,
Are from the Lord which He doth impart
Him who trust Jesus with all his mind.
The storm may come, the tempest may rage,
And the cloud may hide the sun from us
Yet whose mind in the Lord takes refuge
Nothing good be lacked prepared for us.
Men may shun and friends may forsake us
Our cherished hopes may fly with their wings
Words may loss in the air, deeds in dust
But abiding in Christ gains all things.
In all your ways acknowledge the Lord
And He shall safely direct your path .
He'll lead you through though the way looks dim
And at last you’ll find in the right path.
ON PICNIC
Composed on Dec 5,1957, Jorhat
1. Let’s join in jubilant heart
With the gladsome unison
To celebrate our picnic .
Let’s sing with deep heart
The sweet song of fellowship.
‘Tis our jovial picnic day !
It brings gladness and rejoicing,
To all picnickers!
Chorus;
Hail, hail this happy picnic day
For we enjoy the joyous feast .
May our hearts be filled with love
As we employ in singing
The enchanting picnic chorus
On this happy day.
2. Friends, we express our deep love
And welcome you , - every one .
May your hearts and minds too filled
With love, peace and joy!
Let us sing the picnic song !
See ! its music chants sweetly,
Springing bonds of deeper friendship
With one another!
3. May our hearts be united
As we enjoy this picnic
By sharing the Gifts of love
With candid heart .
And when this day fades away,
May this jovial picnic day
Bring ever sweet remembrance
To all picnickers!

FAIRER IS THE MAN
WHO FOLLOWS CHRIST
Composed on Aug 16, 1958 At Lirisi (Sangtam Area)
Fair is the sunshine after a rain .
Fairer still the hills which receive it .
For there the birds sing and the deer play ,
And the streams flow chanting their sweet songs.
One day strolled I there free like a cloud.
Alone was I but my head was full
And my heart too was freely flowing.
Then came this light which 1 dearly love:
Fair is the man who loves his Creator,
And lives for His pleasure and glory .
Fairer still the man who follows Christ,
Day by day and moment by moment .
MY SWEET HOME
Composed on Aug 20, 1958 At New Mangakhi (Sangtam Area)
One day I stood alone in a mountain top.
The wind was pleasant, the nature was calm,
The landscape was bright and the sky was cloudless.
Then my mind was lifted above its scene.
All around me I saw the mountain ranges.
Beneath the ranges the streams were flowing.
And down the valleys and above the ranges
The songbirds were singing praises to God.
I saw the homes of the brave, - the historic ones,
Chungliyimti and Phiru-ahiru.
They took me back to time immemorial
Which tells us the glorious past that was ours .
Yonder I saw my home which I dearly loved.
Then lifted my heart to the heav’nly home;
The abode of Christ, the home of the angels .
Oh, how do I love it and long for it!
