Mizoram will register speedy development if collective effort is made: CM Zoramthanga

Aizawl, October 17 (NNN): Mizoram Chief Minister, Zoramthanga said that Mizoram will usher in development if the government, churches and civil societies work together.


Addressing the 72nd general conference of Young Mizo Association (YMA) in N Vanlaiphai village in Serchhip district on Òctober 16, Zoramthanga said that the Mizo people are destined by God to shine everywhere. He also said that the people are regimented society, who are obedient to their leaders. 


"If concerted effort is made among the churches, NGOs and the government, Mizoram will register a speedy development," he said. The three time Chief Minister then warned the people against "negative" thinking.


"We the Mizo people have the habit of being pessimistic and degrading ourselves. But outsiders, when they come to visit Mizoram, often see the good sides of the Mizo people," he said, adding that the people should also learn positive thinking. He also said that there are still many good people, who tirelessly work for the progress and betterment of the state.


The Chief Minister then appealed to all denizens to make use of "our peaceful state" and exploit the various potentials of the state in order to usher in development.


Starting from Tuesday, a 3-day YMA general conference concluded on October 17. The association unanimously adopted "massive education drive" as its year-long declaration. Meanwhile, the YMA in its general conference re-elected Vanlalruata as the president of Central YMA, while present general secretary Lalhmachhuana was newly elected as vice president and Prof. Lalnuntluanga was elected as the new general secretary of Central YMA.
