Mkg: Adulteration suspected in 15,824 liquor bottle seizure

Mokokchung, May 11 (MExN): Mokokchung Police have seized around 15,824 empty bottles of Mc. Dowell rum suspected to have been intended for liquor adulteration or illegal manufacturing during a surprise checking operation at Sewak Gate area on May 8.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, police intercepted a suspicious Tata vehicle bearing registration number AS 25 DC 9621 at around 9 pm while conducting surprise checks in the area.

The vehicle was reportedly impersonating an “On Army Duty” vehicle. Upon inspection, police recovered 184 bags containing approximately 15,824 empty bottles of Mc. Dowell rum.

Police stated that the empty bottles are suspected to have been brought for use in adulteration or manufacturing of liquor.

Four persons were apprehended in connection with the seizure. They were identified as Rongsentoshi Ao (29); Limanung Sang (26); Hassan Ali (25); and Ruhul Amin (27).

Police informed that a case has been registered under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act and investigation is underway.
