MLA Jwenga Seb maintained that tourism industry has the power to transform lives, communities, and entire nations.
“It is a catalyst for economic growth, a promoter of cultural exchange, and a vehicle for sustainable development,” he said while addressing World Tourisms Day at Tseminyu on September 27.

In Nagaland, he said, we are blessed with a rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural landscapes, and warm and welcoming people.

“Our state has immense potential to become a premier tourist destination, attracting visitors from all corners of the globe. However, to unlock this potential, we must ensure that tourism development is inclusive and sustainable.”

Stating that Tseminyu is a newly created district and is in its nascent stage, he said “ but once developed with its breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, it is indeed a perfect location to commemorate this global event. We are truly grateful for this opportunity to showcase the charm and allure of our town to the rest of the world.”

He shared some initiatives that Tseminyu DPDB plan to take forward on tourism sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Seb said that Tseminyu DPDB has initiated 'Green District Development Goal' which aims to promote sustainable development practices and preserves the natural resources and its environment.

“The development of tourist circuits in the seven ranges of Rengma villages will not only attract visitors but also contribute to the local economy and preserve the cultural heritage of the region,” he said adding that by showcasing the unique aspects of each range, tourists will have the opportunity to experience the rich traditions, natural beauty, and local lifestyle of the Rengma villages.

Seb sought the support of the tourism department and tourism minister Temjen Imna Along in achieving such goals, “as it aligns perfectly with the principles of responsible and eco- friendly tourism.”

Also seeking the intervention of the department for the need of tourist lodge in Tseminyu town, Seb said “As the number of tourists visiting our town continues to grow, it is imperative that we provide them with comfortable and convenient accommodation options.”

It would greatly enhance the overall tourism experience and contribute to the economic development of the region in particular and general the state in general.

Tourist Circuit: To promote tourism and enhance the local economy, the Tseminyu proposed the development of Tourist circuit in the seven ranges of Rengma villages, Seb said. Tseminyu districts has 42 recognized villages, spread in seven ranges. Each range offers unique attractions and experiences, making it an ideal destination for tourists seeking an authentic cultural and natural experience, he said.

Tesophenyu Range: With its large population and rich cultural heritage, the Tesophenyu Range is proposed to be developed as a traditional hub of performing folk arts, Seb said. The range will showcase traditional artists, folk music, songs, and dances, allowing tourists to immerse themselves in the local customs and traditions.

Tseminyu Range: As the district headquarters, this range will serve as the central location for tourists. Decent and sufficient lodgings will be provided to accommodate visitors, ensuring a comfortable stay during their exploration of the Rengma Villages.

Kithagha Range: Known for its cleanliness and green villages, the Kithagha Range offers an opportunity to experience the local lifestyle and traditional ways of living. Home stays can be developed here, allowing tourists to stay with local families and participate in their daily activities.

Tsogin Range: Seb said that Tsogin Range is famous for its natural beauty and biodiversity, particularly the Nsonji Lake, which is the only big water body in the district. This range can be developed to offer nature walks, bird watching, and river rafting activities, allowing tourists to appreciate the region's unique flora and fauna.

Phenshünyu Range: The range is blessed with abundant raw materials and a diverse forest, this range can be developed as an indigenous skill research and development center.  A botanical garden can also be established to showcase the rich plant life and promote environmental conservation, Seb said.

Kasha Daho: Deeply rooted in ancestral migration history, this range offers a unique opportunity to learn about the local heritage. The range is also home to Mt. Terogvu, the highest peak in the district, where a watchtower and prayer tower can be developed. Additionally, a heritage center cum museum can be established to preserve and showcase the cultural artifacts and history of the Rengma villages, the MLA said.

Kandinu range: Seb said that traditional healing practices can be developed as a holistic wellness and healing center. Tourists can experience traditional therapies, learn about medicinal plants, and participate in wellness activities, promoting health and well-being.
