M'laya No Confidence Motion sought

Shillong, September 12 (NNN): The NCP's move for a no confidence motion was admitted by the speaker of the Meghalaya legislative assembly today and it is scheduled to be taken up before Friday.
While moving the motion to display the opposition's lack of confidence for the government's alleged failure on all fronts, leader of the opposition and NCP legislator Conrad K Sangma said that it is imperative for the opposition to move a no confidence motion against the Congress led Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA) government particularly on issues like law and order and the deplete financial position that the state is experiencing.
Members of the ruling bench countered the opposition's move to initiate move for a no confidence motion against the one and half year’s old government headed by Dr Mukul Sangma. The moral, legal and constitutional rules were cited by both the treasury and the opposition bench in course of the deliberations to have the no confidence motion admitted.
Conrad K Sangma even questioned the treasury bench on why they have to be scared when they are confident of having the numbers. “We wanted to initiate the no confidence motion simply to take up the important issues because the five day session is not adequate for us to deliberate through motions and resolutions”, stated the leader of the opposition.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma interjected during the debate stating that his government welcomes the opposition's desire to take up the no-confidence motion. The Speaker of the State assembly Charles Pyngrope after hearing from both the sides finally admitted to have the no-confidence motion besides announcing that the day of the debate will be announced through the assembly bulletin. The five days autumn session of the state assembly concludes on Friday.
