Mokokchung, May 24 (MExN): The Merangkong Laishir Telungjem (MLT) held its 16th annual conference from May 22 to 24 at Merangkong Baptist Church under the theme “Reviving the Authentic Faith in a Nominal World”, based on Revelation 3:1–3.
The conference began with an inaugural programme attended by members of Merangkong Medmsanger Putu, Merangkongtsür Telungjem, Merangkong Kaketshir Telungjem, the Deacon Board and the Deaconess of Merangkong Baptist Church.
President of the Ao Senden, Marsanen Imsong, attended the programme as the special guest. Addressing the gathering, Imsong urged the participants to live as men and women of integrity and to follow the example of the first Ao Naga convert, Lt Longjanglepzuk, whose vision for faith and community continued to inspire generations despite his brief life.
He also encouraged villagers to strengthen mutual support and unity so that communities could grow more connected and purposeful.
The conference featured panel discussions on issues affecting the church and society, including “Ministry Beyond the Church”, which focused on extending faith into workplaces and daily life, and “The Double-Edged Sword of Social Media in Church Attendance”, which examined the impact of social media on worship participation and spiritual engagement. The speakers included Akangtemsu and Bendangmenla.
On May 23, participants were divided into three groups for outreach visits to Merangkong Town Baptist Church, Merangkong School Compound Baptist Church and Merangkong Baptist Church. A home visitation programme was also conducted at Merangkong Baptist Church to promote fellowship and pastoral care among members.
