
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 9 (MExN): Out of 198 Zoos in the country ( India), 25 Zoos have been prioritized as Model Zoos including Dimapur Zoo ( Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar) by the Central Zoo Authority of India in its meeting held in Delhi on September 5. This was informed in a press note issued by T. Lotha Chief Wildlife Warden, Nagaland.
These Zoos will be developed on scientific management and showcase with flagship species of endangered animals. “Zoo in a modern society is directly relevant to conservation which includes recovery, re-introduction or re-stocking into attractive habitats apart from Education and Research pursuits”, the press note stated. The State will have to commit itself for making a model zoo reality in terms of manpower deployment, resources, development and prospective management commensurate with the vision of Central Zoo Authority of India, it stated.
