She informed the meeting that children aged 0-5 years can receive the polio vaccine at designated polio booths in their respective areas on June 28. From June 29 to 30, health workers, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) will conduct house-to-house visits under the supervision of designated supervisors.
Dr Limanaro disclosed that a total of 186 polio booths would be manned by health workers and volunteers across the district.
She also highlighted the ongoing ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign’ under the slogan ‘Stop Diarrhoea–Save Lives’ which will continue until July 31. She said the campaign aims to achieve zero child deaths due to diarrhoea by ensuring high coverage of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc treatment among children suffering from diarrhoeal diseases.
During her presentation, she pointed to challenges including awareness on diarrhoea management, access to safe drinking water and clean toilets in schools, homes and public places, and community awareness on sanitation and waste management. She said these challenges could be addressed with the support of stakeholders.
Presenting the status of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in the district, Dr Limanaro urged members to “motivate the eligible beneficiaries to come forward for the HPV vaccination."
Dr M A H Azhar, SMO, WHO, delivered a presentation on the global wild poliovirus situation from 2018 to 2026, vaccine-preventable disease surveillance, and routine immunization updates.
Addressing the meeting, ADC Atsungba Walling called upon allied departments, stakeholders and NGOs to "co-ordinate for the successful implementation of the NID programme." He informed members that publicity through miking and social media would be used to disseminate information about the immunization drive.
