Doctors’ deadline of April 17 looms large
DIMAPUR, APRIL 11 (MExN): Private Doctors in Nagaland will stop providing services under the PM-JAY Ayushman and CMHIS schemes from April 17, unless the State Government takes action to compensate their claims under the schemes. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, the Nagaland Private Doctors' Association (NPDA) informed that it had, on March 17, issued 1 month's notice to the CEO, NHPS regarding “continued non-payment of dues to private Empanelled Health Care Providers (EHCPs).”
“Despite our repeated concerns, the situation remains unresolved,” the NPDA stated. The association informed that during a discussion with the Commissioner & Secretary, Health and Family Welfare on April 9, it was suggested that the Government of Nagaland may consider creating a contingency fund to clear the pending dues of EHCPs. This would have allowed them to continue providing essential services to the people of Nagaland without disruption.
However, it said that without compensation, “the continued financial strain threatens the very survival of our establishments.” “We are left with no alternative but to withdraw from the schemes unless immediate corrective action is taken.”
