MoS Rai urges effective implementation of schemes in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, July 7 (MExN): Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai concluded a two-day visit to Mokokchung district on July 6, during which he reviewed development initiatives, inspected ongoing infrastructure projects and urged officials to ensure effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.

During his visit, Rai interacted with members of the Ungma Village Council and visited the village library-cum-museum, where he appreciated efforts to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of the Ao community. He also inspected the ongoing construction of the hospital building at the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital under the Purvottar Sampark Setu programme of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

Addressing the gathering at Ungma, the Minister said India's strength lies in its diversity and noted that preserving indigenous traditions and cultural heritage is essential for future generations. He also commended Padma Shri awardee Guru Sangyusang Pongener for his contribution to safeguarding traditional art and culture.

As part of the visit, Rai chaired a review meeting with Heads of Departments and district officials at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall on July 6. 

He stressed the need for effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes, calling for clear priorities, well-defined action plans, transparency, accountability and timely execution to ensure intended benefits reach the public.

Highlighting Nagaland's agricultural potential, the Minister said the state's favourable natural resources and climatic conditions make it well suited for organic farming. He called for optimum and systematic utilisation of available resources to promote sustainable agricultural growth and improve livelihoods.

During the meeting, district departments presented reports on the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes, outlining progress, achievements and challenges. 

Additional Commissioner Dr Madhavi R delivered a presentation on the district profile and key development indicators, while Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma chaired the meeting, the State DIPR reported.
