Motivational session held at Loyola Hr Sec School Kiphire

KIPHIRE, MAY 8 (MExN): Loyola Higher Secondary School, Loyola Higher Secondary School conducted an orientation and motivational session for students of Classes 10, 11 and 12 on May 8 with the aim of equipping students with strategies for academic success ahead of their board examinations.

The programme began with Principal Rev Fr Philip Magh welcoming the resource person, staff and students, while Vice Principal Rev Fr Marius Patton led the opening prayer. A traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony followed, symbolising the dispelling of ignorance. Teachers were also introduced to Class 11 students attending their first day at the senior secondary level.

The resource person for the session, Rev Fr Thomas Toretkiu, spoke on the theme “How to Succeed in Life?” and said success comes through hard work, practised through the “3Rs: Read, Write and Recite.”

He stressed consistency in studies and urged students to dedicate four to five hours daily to focused academic work in order to excel in the NBSE HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

Drawing from the journeys of Nagaland’s 2026 NBSE toppers, Fr Toretkiu referred to Aman Kumar, HSLC Topper 2026; Keleno Thorie, HSSLC Arts Stream Topper 2026; Shreya Debnath, HSSLC Commerce Stream Topper 2026; and Menguhaankum Chang, HSSLC Science Stream Topper 2026. Students also listened to interview clips of the toppers during the session.

Fr Toretkiu highlighted consistent study habits, quality time devoted to each subject, conceptual understanding, motivation and support from family and teachers as key factors behind academic success.

He also advised students against comparing themselves with others. “Never compare yourself to others. Study at your own pace and always believe in yourself,” he said, adding that self-belief is essential in achieving one’s goals.

The programme concluded with a prayer over the students, seeking guidance and strength for the academic year ahead.
