
Aizawl, June 30 (NNN): The work on Kaladan Multi Modal Transport Project ,which is proposed by the country to strengthen its business relation with other countries utilising the river Chhimtuipui (Kolodyne), is in process.
Mizoram PWD chief engineer (Highway) Lianchungnunga informed NNN, "This project which aims to bring closer ties with south east Asian countries in terms of trade and commerce will use Chhimtuipui river as the main route but since the water way will not reach upto the trade point, road construction is carried out." According to official sources, a railway track will also be laid once road contruction is completed.
The Kaladan Multi Modal Transport Project was initiated in October last year, and the road construction work has started since February this year. Local media persons along with PWD Chief Engineer (Highway) Lianchungnunga, had inspected the construction site on June 23 last at Lawngtlai district. About 7 km long .has been accomplished by now.
Meanwhile, the state PWD department as well as the contractors face some problems because of land acquisition matter from private own lands.
