NABARD launches DDM office in Kiphire to boost rural development

In a major boost to strengthen rural development and financial development, the newly established District Development Manager (DDM) of NABARD was formally inaugurated in Kiphire town on June 16. It was graced by P Bulte, General Manager, NABARD, Nagaland RO, as chief guest in the presence of District Administration, HoDs of Agri & Allied Departments, SHGs, and NGOs at Medical Ward, Kiphire Town.

In his address, the chief guest emphasised the role of NABARD in providing vital support to rural infrastructure, credit-linked schemes adding that the establishment of DDM office in Kiphire will bridge the gap between financial institutions and rural farmers as it will streamline project implementation and improve coordination between various departments.

He stated that DDM office is a very unique office and urged the people of Kiphire to take the opportunity and make the best use of it by for the overall development of Kiphire rural economy as DDM specifically focus on development at the grassroot. 

He said Kiphire being an Aspirational district, approval was given for opening of DDM office to fast track development activities in the district.

Highlighting the role NABARD undertake, he said NABARD plays crucial role in three main areas- financial, development, and supervision but people have very little knowledge about it and there is a need to educate people about the importance of NABARD activities.

He also mentioned that Department of Land Resources, Nagaland has an excellent track record in successfully implementing Springshed project in Nagaland.

He called upon Agri & Allied Departments and the people of Kiphire to extend help and cooperation towards DDM office for the progress of Kiphire.

Also speaking at the inaugural program, Longdiba L Sangtam, ADC, Kiphire said opening of DDM, office in Kiphire is a long felt need and it has become a reality after 21 years since Kiphire upgraded to district status. 

He thanked and congratulated GM NABARD, Nagaland and his officials for working tirelessly for setting up separate DDM office for the people of Kiphire.

He applauded NABARD for carrying out various development activities in rural areas for the people of Kiphire and hoped that opening of DDM office will re-energized the department to carry out more developmental activities.

He assured of district administration support and cooperation for the development of Kiphire district. 

Delivering welcome address Imkongyanger Imchen, DDM, Kiphire, stated today marks a significant milestone in our collective journey towards inclusive and sustainable rural development in Kiphire district.

He said Kiphire with its rich cultural heritage, resilient community, and untapped potential stands at a threshold of transforming, ‘as one of India’s Aspirational Districts, Kiphire has been identified for focus development intervention to improve key indicators in health, education, agriculture, and financial inclusion’ he added. 

He mentioned, DDM, office is not just an administrative unit –it is a development catalyst and listed the core activities in areas of strategic planning and coordination, financial inclusion and empowerment, project monitoring and evaluation, infrastructure development and innovation, capacity building and skill development, and policy advocacy and stakeholders engagement.

Speaking on behalf of department of Land Resources, Lipichem, DPO, Kiphire extended congratulatory message from the Director, LRD on opening of DDM office in Kiphire and assured of LRD help and cooperation towards DDM, Kiphire. 

Short speeches were also delivered by District Fisheries Officer, Assistant Conservatory of Forest, and MD, Better Life Foundation.
