
Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is concerned at the recent spate of unsavory situations the state has been facing. The organizations referred specifically to the June 30 killing at ‘Inavi village’ under Peren district, the explosion at 3rd Mile Dimapur that left one dead and in the mainland, the recent 14 Naga girls caught for allegedly engaging in flesh trade.
“At a time when Nagas, at all levels, are trying to foster in peace, unity and tranquility amongst the Nagas, it is distressing to witnessed further division and hatred among fellow Naga brethrens. The federation, therefore call upon to all concerns to solve any dispute and misunderstanding through dialogue and peaceful means,” a note form the NSF stated to referring to the violence.
On the recent detection of 14 Naga girls in Sripirumberatur in Chennai “caught in the disgraceful business of flesh trade”, the NSF said ‘exemplary punishment’ ought to be severed to the accused.
“The federation is doubtful that the recent incident may be just the ‘dip of the iceberg’. Therefore the NSF call upon the subordinate bodies at metropolitan cities to be more vigilant and take stringent action on those found in such shameful act,” the note stated.
While appreciating the ‘watchful and commendable act’ of the Naga Students’ Union of Chennai, also urged the Nagas residing in Chennai to identify “those callous person/agents” and declare them in public “without any fear or favor and award befitting and exemplary punishment so that such incident do not happen to Naga youngsters in future.”
