Nagaland Assembly passes two government bills

Two Government Bills on Nagaland Town and Country Planning (Fifth Amendment) Bill 2025 and Nagaland Shops and Establishments (1st Amendment) Bill, 2025  have been passed  at the ongoing 8th Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima on March 10.

Both the bills, moved by Nagaland’s Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, was introduced on Monday on the floor of the House.

NLA speaker Sharingain Longkumer made an obituary reference to the passing away of Late Dr. Longrineken, former member of NLA.

The House observed a minute silence in respect of the departed soul.  

Earlier, Dr. Rio presented the Annual Administrative Reports 2025-2026 of the various departments, including Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd, Technical Education, Water Resources, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Sericulture, New & Renewable Energy and Food & Civil Supplies.

Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton,  Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, Power Minister KG Kenye, Environment, Forests & Climate Change Minister CL John, Rural Development Minister Metsubo Jamir, Women Resource Development Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse and higher education minister Temjen Imna Along also presented the Annual Administrative Reports 2025-26 of the respective departments.

Later, Mhathung Yanthan, Chairperson, the Public Accounts Committee (2025– 2026) presented 139th Report of The Committee on Public Accounts (2025-2026) on the Action Taken by the Government on the Observations/Recommendations contained in the 132nd Report of the Committee on the C&AG Report of India for the year 2017-2018 on the State Finances Audit Report, 140th Report of The Committee on Public Accounts (2025-2026) on the Action Taken by the Government on the Observations/ Recommendations contained in the 133rd Report of the Committee on the C&AG Report of India for the year 2017-2018, 141st Report of The Committee on Public Accounts (2025-2026) on the Action Taken by the Government on the Observations/ Recommendations contained in the 134th Report of the Committee on the C&AG Report of India for the year 2018-2019 on the State Finances Audit Report and 142nd Report of The Committee on Public Accounts (2025-2026) on the Action Taken by the Government on the Observations/ Recommendations contained in the 135th Report of the Committee on the C&AG Report of India for the year 2018-2019.
