Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): Amidst concerns over fuel availability, the Nagaland Department of Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) has reassured consumers that the state has sufficient stock of domestic LPG and there is no requirement to panic.
This clarification was issued following a review meeting held in Kohima on Thursday to assess the availability of LPG and other petroleum products in the state. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Kohima, Dimapur and Chümoukedima, along with officials from the Department of Food & Civil Supplies and representatives of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
After reviewing the current stock status, the department has informed all consumers that there is sufficient domestic LPG stock available in the market and that there is no shortage in the State.
The department urged “all consumers not to panic or indulge in unnecessary hoarding of domestic LPG creating artificial scarcity.”
It issued cautioned all to distributors, retailers and individuals against black marketing, overpricing, or the unauthorised sale of domestic LPG, stating that such activities are illegal and punishable under the relevant provisions of the law. Strict action will be initiated against any person or entity found involved in such malpractices, it added.
The department also sought the cooperation of all the public to maintain orderly distribution and follow the norms laid out.
To sensitise the public, it informed that booking of Domestic LPG is done purely through digital booking system and delivery is done through Delivery Authentication Code (DAC). Booking is allowed after a gap of 25 days. “This measure is put in place to avoid hoarding and other ill practices and ensure smooth and fair distribution to all consumers.”
