Nagaland COVID-19 negative as on April 5

45 samples test negative and results of two awaited

Nagaland remained free of COVID-19 as of 5:00 pm, April 5. The result of the 4 suspected samples sent for confirmation on April 4 returned negative taking the total of samples to test negative to 45. Results of two samples sent on April 5 were awaited.
Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha giving the daily COVID-19 preparation round up informed that preparations are underway for designation 5 more hospitals as COVID-19 Hospitals, which will increase the bed capacity from the current 210 to 260. Chedema Ayush Hospital, District Hospital Dimapur, TB Hospital Mokokchung and District Hospital Tuensang have so far been the designated COVID-19 Hospitals.
The number of quarantine facilities stood at 43 with 1264 beds.
Home Commissioner appeals
“An appeal is again made to anyone who is presently in Nagaland, and has attended the religious congregation and not yet contacted by our district authorities, to immediately contact the State Level Control Room on COVID-19, the numbers of which are 0370-2291120, 2291122, with full details, for getting examined and screened for COVID-19 by the respective district and medical authorities,” Sinha appealed. He though added that all efforts are being made to find out all the people believed to have attended the congregation.
Doctor-Police incident
Maintaining that the state government is looking into the matter with utmost seriousness, he informed that enquiry was on and “corrective measures have been taken so as to ensure that such unfortunate things do not happen again.” Controversy had ensued on April 5 after an incident on the night of April 4, in which a doctor was reportedly assaulted by police personnel in Dimapur.
Singh said that the medical fraternity, along with the police and all the other frontline workers are collectively battling the threat of COVID-19. “An appeal is made to everyone to continue the fight with the same dedication and spirit of unity and cooperation, that all of us have been showing, right from the time this threat emerged.”
While reiterating that the stock of essential commodities continues to be comfortable across the state, he added, “Please stay home and continue adhering to all the lockdown measures.”
