BARBADOS, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): Delegates from the Nagaland Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Branch are attending the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC), one of the largest gatherings of Commonwealth Parliamentarians, being hosted by the Parliament of Barbados and the CPA Barbados Branch at Bridgetown, Barbados.
The conference, which began on October 7 was inaugurated by the President of Barbados and Vice-Patron of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Her Excellency Dame Sandra Mason.
Held under the theme “The Commonwealth: A Global Partner,” the 68th CPC features a series of workshops providing opportunities for Parliamentarians and global experts to deliberate on key issues of governance and development.
Seven learning and development workshops are being conducted during the main conference. The Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, S. Toiho Yeptho, is participating in discussions on “Climate Change and its Threat to Global Health: Finding Sustainable Solutions” and “Building Trust and Transparency in Democracy: Financial Transparency in Parliaments and Elections.”
Four additional workshops are also being held as part of the 41st CPA Small Branches Conference and the 9th Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Conference. The 68th CPC will conclude on October 15 after the post-conference tour.
