Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland marked a significant milestone in its digital education journey with the official launch of the Integrated Data Platform (IDP) by the Advisor for School Education & SCERT Kekhrielhoulie Yhome.
The event, held in Kohima, brought together the State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland L Jamithung Lotha, IAS and officials from Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, the School Education Department, representatives from ConveGenius, and other key stakeholders, reflecting the state’s collective commitment to strengthening governance through technology.
A press update received here stated that the IDP has been envisioned as a transformative system that consolidates the state’s diverse educational datasets into a single, unified platform. For years, it stated, educational data in Nagaland has been dispersed across multiple portals and maintained in varying formats, creating gaps in visibility and making it difficult to take timely and informed decisions.
With the launch of the IDP, this long-standing challenge is being addressed through a centralised framework that enables real-time monitoring, greater transparency, and more efficient planning across all levels of the education ecosystem.
It informed that the platform currently hosts eleven dashboards covering major domains of school functioning. Among these, the attendance dashboard has already gone live and is offering real-time insights from schools across the state, marking a major step toward improving daily monitoring and administrative responsiveness.
In his address, Advisor Yhome acknowledged the efforts of ConveGenius for developing a solution that is tailored to the needs of Nagaland’s education system. Yhome emphasised that the IDP will significantly enhance the functioning of the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), which serves as the state’s central nerve centre for data analysis and decision support.
With richer datasets and a more streamlined data flow, he said that the VSK will now be better equipped to support the state and districts in identifying trends, diagnosing challenges, and responding quickly to emerging needs. Furthermore, he stressed that such data systems are not only essential for good governance but are also key to improving learning outcomes, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that every child in Nagaland benefits from equitable and high-quality education.
Alongside the IDP, the Government also unveiled SwiftChat, a new application designed to bring simplicity and coherence to the daily digital interactions within the education system. SwiftChat will serve as a unified interface for students, teachers, school heads, field officials, and administrators, capturing data related to attendance, assessments, feedback, and other classroom or administrative activities. By consolidating multiple processes into a single platform, the app is expected to reduce fragmentation, enhance communication, and create a smoother flow of information between schools and the state.
The launch event also introduced the Samagra Shiksha Civil App, a tool created to digitise the monitoring of civil works funded under the education sector. For a state as geographically diverse as Nagaland, tracking infrastructure projects in real time has often been challenging. The Civil App now makes it possible to capture on-site progress digitally, complete with photographs and location-based updates, thereby improving oversight, efficiency, and transparency in the execution of infrastructure initiatives across the state.
Together, the IDP Nagaland, SwiftChat, and the Samagra Shiksha Civil App mark a new chapter in the state’s digital transformation efforts. These platforms embody Nagaland’s strong resolve to harness technology for better governance, more responsive delivery systems, and improved outcomes for its schools and communities. By enabling timely, accurate, and actionable insights, the state is laying the groundwork for a more connected, accountable, and future-ready education system.
