Nagaland NSDMA & NRE Advisor Z Nyusietho Nyuthe today emphasised that education must be the key driver for societal change.
“Through education, we unlock opportunities for growth, progress, and a brighter future, equipping our children to dream bigger, think critically, and lead with courage,” Nyuthe said while addressing the 25th general conference of Pochury Hoho Kohima (PHK) at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima.
He highlighted that Pochury’s possesses rich resources and combined with the power of education, can drive the community’s growth. Investing in education, he stressed, is investing in the very foundation of the community’s future, ensuring progress with purpose, knowledge, and resilience.
Nyuthe expressed his happiness over the recent HSLC and HSSLC results, noting that a student from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Meluri, ranked in the Top 20, and a young Pochury lad excelled in the Top 6 in the Science stream of the 2025 HSSLC examination.
“This achievement reflects the hard work, determination, and commitment of both students and educators,” Nyuthe said.
Nyuthe emphasized the responsibility and accountability that each individual must uphold “as we strive for progress.” Success is not only about personal achievement but also about contributing to the growth and well-being of the entire community, he said.
He highlighted Thuda War of 1960 at Phor, where innocent villagers were tortured to death and the entire village occupied by Indian armies. He said that the sacrifices made by the Pochury tribe for the Naga political movement remains unparalleled, but it came at the cost of severe educational and social backwardness, the effects of which are still felt today.
The programme was chaired by S Akho Leyri, executive member PHK while PHK president Wachusie Katiry delivered presidential address. Vote of thanks was proposed by PHK finance secretary Er. Chutsiisie Thowachu.
