A total of 1,50,751 names have been dropped from Nagaland’s draft electoral roll following the conclusion of the enumeration phase under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), bringing the total number of general and service electors in the state down to 12,06,457.
The figures were officially released by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, Bhagyashree Banayat, during the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll across all 60 Assembly Constituencies on September 20.
Prior to the SIR exercise, the total registered electorate in Nagaland stood at 13,57,208.
Following the door-to-door verification drive conducted from August 16 to September 14, 2026, the newly published draft roll reflects 11,99,456 general electors and 7,001 service electors, comprising 6,80,747 male voters and 6,83,462 female voters.
Key drivers behind the drop
According to data released by the CEO’s office, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) successfully collected Enumeration Forms from 11,99,456 electors, registering an 88.38 percent recovery rate.
The remaining 11.62 percent or 1,57,742 entries could not be verified during the field exercise due to specific grounds.
The largest share of omitted names falls under “Absent, Shifted, or Unverified Electors” category, accounting for 1,23,749 electors or 9.12 percent of the pre-SIR roll.
BLOs were unable to recover forms as these individuals had either registered in other States or Union Territories, could not be physically located, failed to submit their forms before the September 14 deadline, or declined to register as voters.
Field verification confirmed the deaths of 28,944 listed electors, representing 2.13 percent of the previous roll, leading to the deletion of their names.
A total of 5,059 entries, or 0.37 percent of the roll, were identified as duplicate enrollments across multiple polling locations. The election machinery confirmed that these names will be retained at only one designated polling station.
However, the release stressed that no genuine elector will be permanently deleted without due process. Booth-wise ASDD lists have been displayed at ERO and AERO offices, polling stations, and on the CEO Nagaland website (ceo.nagaland.gov.in). Electors who were unable to submit their enumeration forms within the stipulated period, alongside young citizens attaining 18 years of age on or before October 1, 2026, can apply for inclusion using Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration form. The Claims and Objections window is open from September 20 to October 20, 2026.
Applications can be submitted physically through BLOs, AEROs, and EROs, or online via voters.eci.gov.in and the ECINET mobile app. Disposal of all claims and objections will take place up to November 18, leading to the final publication of the electoral roll on November 22, 2026.
