Nagaland: Eri Seed Grainage Management Training underway

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): The inaugural function of Eri Seed Grainage Management Training Program was held in State Sericulture Farmers’ Training Centre, Dhansiripar under Chümoukedima district on October 18. 

This seven-day residential training programme, organised by the Department of Sericulture, is designed for department field staff and private farmers.

A total of 30 trainees from various districts, including Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, Zunheboto, Shamator, Noklak, Chümoukedima, and Dimapur, are participating in the training. The primary objective of the training is to equip participants with scientific technology for quality and disease-free eri seed production, a DIPR report informed.

At the inaugural function, Dr B K Singh, Consultant CSB, highlighted the importance and objectives of the Eri Seed Grainage Management Training Program. Mhathung Kikon, Director, released course materials on the standard operation procedure for Eri Grainage Management Training. Director Kikon also praised Dr BK Singh for his dedicated service in preparing the training module and encouraging the trainees to make the most of this opportunity to enhance eri silkworm seed production in the State and work towards self-sufficiency in the future.

Representatives from the sericulture farming community- Lihnon of Tammong village, Mon, and Kinito T Kini of Sastimi village, Zunheboto, also addressed the audience during the function.

The programme was chaired by Ngoiang Ongh, EO SSFTC, Dhansiripar. The welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by M Meyase, Deputy Director, Dimapur, and Mayangjhala Walling, District Sericulture Officer, Chümoukedima.
