Nagaland Government says committed to resolution on Foothills Road concerns

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 28 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges), G. Kaito Aye, reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving concerns surrounding the construction of the Foothill Road while condemning what he described as “baseless accusations and character assaults with unjustified use of language.”

In a statement, Aye asserted that the ceremonial launch of the project was at the discretion of the contractor and rejected demands for an apology. “Your demand for an apology over the launching programme is ill-conceived. It neither requires your endorsement nor any theatrical demand for regret. I owe no apology. But should the project fail to deliver, I will personally apologize,” he stated.

Addressing criticism directed at him, Aye said he was “deeply hurt” by what he termed as a “personal vendetta.” He maintained his commitment to the project and the welfare of the public. “Let me remind you, I am for the project and for the welfare of the people, not for your individual confrontation. I advise you to reflect on the weight of your words and caution you to mind your language: Public discourse thrives on civility not arrogance,” he said.

Aye underscored his years in public service and the lessons he had learned from the people of Nagaland. “Respect is earned, not demanded. If your intent is truly for progress, redirect your energy towards solving challenges and not manufacturing them,” he added.

He assured that his office remains open for discussions to address the concerns over the project. “The doors to my office remain open for discussion to resolve the issue amicably,” he stated.
