Nagaland Governor urges reaffirmation of unity, peace, and progress on Statehood Day

KOHIMA, November 30 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has called on the people of the State to reaffirm their shared commitment to peace, development, and unity.

In his customary message on the eve of Nagaland Statehood Day 2025, he cited these three principles as the pillars that will continue to guide and shape the future of the State.

Bhalla further stated that the State Government remains steadfast in advancing these goals through inclusive development, improved connectivity, transparent governance, and opportunities that uplift every citizen, whether in remote villages or expanding urban centres.

Nagaland stands at a significant juncture in its continuing journey, and with sustained peace, cooperation, and dialogue, collective aspirations can be realised for lasting progress, he added. The Governor also urged moving forward with renewed purpose by embracing innovation while safeguarding cultural identity, celebrating diversity while strengthening unity, and ensuring that the vision of the State’s founding leaders continues to guide the path.

While honouring the past, the State must also look toward the future with determination, he said, noting that it is a collective responsibility to nurture peace, promote sustainable development, empower youth, and preserve the unique traditions and values that define Nagaland.

Governor Bhalla also extended his greetings and best wishes to the people as the State commemorates Nagaland’s accession as the 16th State of the Indian Union. He paid tribute to the resilience, courage, and unwavering aspirations of the Naga people, who envisioned a future anchored in identity, unity, and progress.

Statehood Day is a moment of profound reflection, the Governor maintained, highlighting Nagaland’s remarkable journey since December 1, 1963, guided by the wisdom of pioneers whose commitment to dignity and self-governance laid the foundations of the State. Their sacrifices and steadfast spirit continue to inspire collective efforts toward a brighter and more harmonious tomorrow.

The Governor noted that over the decades, Nagaland has made significant progress in governance, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and cultural preservation. He highlighted the achievements of the State’s youth in academics, sports, entrepreneurship, and the arts, and acknowledged farmers, artisans, and community leaders for upholding values of hard work, harmony, and social responsibility that strengthen Naga society.

He further remarked that Nagaland’s diverse tribes, traditions, and languages reflect its cultural vibrancy and resilience, with festivals, customary practices, respect for elders, and community spirit forming the enduring wealth of the State. The Governor emphasised that harmony and mutual respect among tribes remain the cornerstone of Nagaland’s strength.

On this Statehood Day, he urged the people to reaffirm their pledge to work in unity for a peaceful, progressive, and vibrant Nagaland.
