Nagaland Govt issues ‘gag order’ to employees

Says only AHOD or HOD authorised to speak to media
Kohima, April 15 (MExN): Following serious of criticisms, the Nagaland Government today issued sort of ‘gag order’ to government functionaries stating that only concerned the Administrative Heads of Department (AHoD) or Head of Department are authorised to speak to media
According to a DIPR report, citing an advisory by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland, the government claimed that “lot of confusion is being created in the minds of the people through media reports based on interviews and statements given by Government functionaries.”
These functionaries are not authorised to speak on behalf of the Departments, it said.
In this connection, the ‘advisory’ informed all AHoDs and HoDs to note that “no officer other than the concerned AHoD/HoD are authorised to speak to the media on issues pertaining to functioning matters of the respective departments.”
“Any unauthorised government functionary in the Government found making statements to any Media or Press will face disciplinary action,” it added.
