Filmmaker Theja Rio
Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Nagaland government will honour filmmaker Theja Rio for his exemplary achievement in cinema after his debut feature film ANGH won the Platform Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada, official sources said on Tuesday.
A felicitation programme will be organised in his honour at the State Banquet Hall, Chief Minister's Residential Complex, Kohima at 6:00 PM on September 30, a DIPR report said.
The cast and crew of ANGH will also be felicitated during the programme.
ANGH had its world premiere at TIFF in September 2026 and went on to win the Platform Prize, becoming the first film from India to bag the award.
Starting 2026, the winner of the Platform Prize (non-English language) becomes eligible for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. By winning the Platform Prize at TIFF, ANGH has automatically qualified for consideration in the International Feature Film Category at the 2027 Academy Awards.
The cast and crew of the film, ANGH, will also be felicitated during the programme, the report added.
