Kohima, April 13 (MExN): With the confirmation of a COVID-19 from Nagaland on April 12, the Minister of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Nagaland, S Pangnyu Phom today called upon the Chief Minister Neiphiu_Rio for “total lockdown of the State, particularly Dimapur District to prevent further spread of the virus in the state with immediate effect.
“In view of the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and with the confirmation of First Positive Case from Nagaland yesterday, it is felt that the total lockdown of the State, particularly Dimapur District is required to prevent further spread of the virus in the state with immediate effect,” the minister stated in a letter to Rio.
Pangnyu further requested the Chief Minister, Nagaland to “examine the case and may issue necessary directives for implementation of the total lockdown in the interest of public health and safety.”
Nagaland reported the first COVID-19 case on April 12, after a patient for Dimapur tested positive at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
