Nagaland: Licence of Dimapur sweets outlet suspended over unhygienic conditions

Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): The Food Safety Administration (FSA), Dimapur Zone, has suspended the FSSAI licence of M/s Bothra Sweets & Provisions for failing to comply with an ‘Improvement Notice’ issued over unhygienic and unsanitary conditions in its food preparation area.

According to a press release issued by the Designated Officer, FSA, Dimapur Zone, the establishment has been ordered to remain closed for 15 days with effect from October 1, or until the prescribed corrective measures are duly implemented.

The FSA further informed that ‘Improvement Notices’ have been served to other food business operators found to be non-compliant with prescribed food safety and hygiene requirements.

These establishments are currently under the stipulated Improvement Notice period, following which the concerned establishments will be re-inspected by Food Safety authorities to assess compliance with the prescribed corrective measures, it added.

According to the FSA, failure to demonstrate satisfactory compliance may invite further action under the applicable provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The release stated that inspections are carried out under the Risk-Based Inspection System (RBIS) developed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

The system focuses regulatory resources on intensive inspections of high-risk food businesses and represents a shift from a rigid, product-based inspection model to a dynamic, risk-based process assessing overall operational safety controls, it added.
