Kohima, April 11 (MExN): The National Ayush Mission (NAM) observed World Homoeopathy Day at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DH&FW), Kohima on April 10 under the theme “Homoeopathy for Sustainable Health.” The occasion also marked the 271st birth anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemann, founder and father of Homoeopathy.
Speaking as guest of honour, Dr Akuo Sorhie, Retired Mission Director, NAM/NHM, underscored the role and impact of the Homoeopathy system of medicine in fostering a robust and holistic healthcare system in the state.
Dr Sentimeren Aonok, Director (Health), who attended as special guest, appreciated and encouraged Homoeopathy doctors to contribute towards sustainable healthcare for society.
A ceremonial cake-cutting was performed by Dr Keveduyi Theyo, Mission Director, NAM/NHM, to mark the birth anniversary. The event was chaired by Dr T Bendangtula, Deputy Director (Ayush), who also conveyed the significance of the day. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Seyiekhrietuo John, State Nodal Officer, NAM.
In a related development, an Ayush Plants Nursery was inaugurated at the premises of the department. The inauguration was graced by Dr Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director, DH&FW, marking a significant step towards the promotion of traditional systems of medicine and the sustainable conservation and propagation of indigenous medicinal plants in Nagaland. The nursery is an initiative of the State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB), Nagaland, under the Ayush section of the department, and aims to facilitate the raising, maintenance and development of medicinal plants.
The inauguration was chaired by Dr Lanusunep, Consultant, SMPB. A dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev. Velavoyi Keyho, Pastor, Phezoucha Nagamese Baptist Church, Kohima.
