NLA panel to visit Dimapur on July 31
Kohima, July 27 (MExN): A committee of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly will visit Dimapur on July 31 to hold consultations on issues relating to urban local bodies and village councils.
According to a release issued by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the Committee on Urban Local Bodies and Nagaland Village Councils (vis-à-vis the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, and the Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act, 1978, as amended up to 2022) will undertake the visit under the chairmanship of K Tokugha Sukhalu.
During the visit, the committee will hold consultative meetings with councillors of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), colony chairmen under Dimapur town and gaon buras (GBs) of Dimapur town.
Mokokchung DC issues travel advisory after NH-2 damage
Mokokchung, July 27 (MExN): The Mokokchung district administration on Monday issued a travel advisory regulating vehicular movement following severe damage to a stretch of National Highway-2 between Chuchuyimlang and Unger villages.
According to the advisory issued by Deputy Commissioner Thsuvisie Phoji, the traffic regulations will remain in force until further orders to ensure uninterrupted movement and public safety.
Under the revised traffic arrangement, all vehicles travelling between Mokokchung town and Tuli have been directed to use the Mokokchung–Impur Junction–Longjang–Kelingmen–Tuli route.
Vehicles travelling between Mokokchung town and Chuchuyimlang village have been advised to take the Mokokchung–Impur Junction–Yisemyong–Mongsenyimti–Chuchuyimlang route.
For travel from Mokokchung town to Changtongya, commuters have been directed to use the Mokokchung–Impur Junction–Longjang–Kelingmen–Unger–Akhoya–Changtongya route.
Vehicles travelling from Changtongya to Mokokchung have been advised to take the Changtongya–Unger–Unger Local Ground–Chuchuyimlang/Kelingmen Junction–Mokokchung route.
The district administration requested commuters to adhere to the advisory, cooperate with the authorities and exercise caution while travelling by following all instructions issued by the concerned authorities.
HEW Kohima denies involvement in honorarium appeal
Kohima, July 27 (MExN): The Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), Kohima, on Monday disassociated itself from a recent appeal seeking the release of pending honorarium for Mission Shakti staff, saying its name had been used without the knowledge or consent of its employees.
In a rejoinder, HEW Kohima said it was shocked to learn that anonymous individuals had used the organisation's name in a news report concerning the pending honorarium under Mission Shakti.
It categorically stated that none of its staff had any knowledge of or association with the publication of the appeal.
The organisation said the pending six months' honorarium for the 2025-26 financial year is awaiting sanction from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
It added that HEW Kohima has already started receiving honorarium for the current financial year 2026-27.
Former ZUF (J) leader joins NSCN-K (Niki)
Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Niki) on Monday announced that David Gangmei alias Tigerson, a former secretary of the Supervisory Committee of the Zeliangrong United Front (J), has joined the outfit.
In a statement, the NSCN-K (Niki) said Gangmei had been part of the ZUF (J) delegation that held talks with the Government of India.
According to the statement, Gangmei expressed confidence in the leadership of the NSCN-K (Niki) and said he joined the outfit to work for what he described as the "greater Naga cause".
The outfit quoted Gangmei as saying that after representing ZUF (J) in two rounds of talks with the Government of India—an informal meeting in Imphal and an official meeting in New Delhi—he concluded that his former organisation "has no vision for the Nagas as a whole."
The statement said Gangmei believed joining what it described as the "mainstream Naga political group" would better enable him to pursue his commitment to the Naga cause and the objective of sovereignty.
AHoDs, HoDs meeting on July 29
Kohima, July 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department has convened a meeting of Administrative Heads of Departments (AHoDs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs) on July 29.
According to an official notification, the meeting will be held at 3 pm in the Conference Hall of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. The Home Department has requested all AHoDs and HoDs to make it convenient to attend the meeting.
Kohima Traders Association renamed Traders Grievances Cell
Kohima, July 27 (MExN): The Kohima Traders Association (KTA) has been renamed the Traders Grievances Cell and will function under the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) following a joint consultative meeting of stakeholders.
The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO), KCCI and KTA at the KVYO office in Ziekezou on July 24.
According to a joint press release, the meeting deliberated on organisational structures, coordination and the collective welfare of the business community in Kohima.
It was decided that the restructured Traders Grievances Cell would function under the banner and aegis of KCCI, which will serve as the apex body.
The release said the Traders Grievances Cell will continue to safeguard the rights of traders, address their grievances and promote the welfare of the trading community in Kohima under the guidance and leadership of KCCI.
The three organisations expressed confidence that the restructuring would strengthen coordination between youth bodies and business associations, promote greater harmony and provide a stronger framework for the socio-economic development of the state capital.
