1st TUN annual general session on June 23
Kohima, June 21 (MExN): The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) will hold its 1st annual general session on June 23 at 10:00 AM at Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) Badze, Meriema under the theme “Progressive society through unity.” Nagaland’s power & parliamentary affairs minister KG Kenye will be the special guest while Women Resource Development &Horticulture minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse will be the guest of honour. Vilelie Khamo, Class 1 contractor will be the patron of the session. Short speech will be delivered by Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, Advisor NSDMA & Inland Waterways while greetings will be shared by TPO president Timikha Koza. TUN president Kekhwengulo Lea will deliver presidential address. Nomination Committee convenor Thejao Vihienuo will led the declaration of the new team of TUN for 2026- 2029.
KCCI informs
Kohima, June 21 (MExN): The Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has informed all the trading communities and its member that the yearly registration and membership drive for the fiscal year 2026 has commenced. The officials entrusted with the task are duly authorised and have been issued with Badges from the Office of the KCCI. In this connection, KCCI requested all the concerned to take note of the ongoing activity and extend support and cooperation to the officials on duty.
NSCN (IM) condemns
KOHIMA, JUNE 21 (MExN): The United Sangtam Region (USR) of the NSCN (IM) has issued a condemnation over the alleged rape of an 82-year-old woman in Kiphire district, allegedly committed by an Armed Branch Constable of the District Executive Force (DEF). Calling the incident "a grave violation of human dignity and a betrayal of the trust placed in law enforcement agencies," a press release from the USR stated that "no individual, regardless of position or authority is above the law." It demanded "a swift, impartial and transparent investigation, followed by the strictest legal action against the accused." It further stated that "justice must be delivered without delay," and called for every effort to be made to ensure "the safety, dignity, and well-being of the victim and all the women in general." The statement said the incident highlights the need for greater accountability, stronger safeguards, and reforms to prevent abuses of power. It added that the organisation stands in solidarity with the victim and her family and urged the authorities to ensure justice. It further stated that "violence against women, especially the elderly and vulnerable, has no place in a civilized society" and said such acts must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
