
MP Phangnon attends int’l conference on delimitation
New Delhi, September 28 (MExN): S. Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Nagaland, attended the inaugural programme of the International Conference on Delimitation in India: Balancing Representation and Federal Equity on September 27 at the Sir Shankar Lal Concert Hall, University of Delhi. Konyak attended the programme as Guest of Honour and commended the Faculty of Law for organising what she described as a timely initiative on delimitation. She said the subject was important for ensuring fair representation and strengthening India’s federal structure. In her remarks, Konyak underlined the vibrancy of India’s democracy and highlighted the Next Gen GST Reforms as “a shining example of cooperative federalism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.” She emphasised that “these reforms were made possible through the unanimous consensus of all states in the GST Council.”
Businesses in Khm directed to install fire extinguishers
Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all the business establishments and shops in Kohima to install fire extinguishers in their respective shops/premises. It has been observed that many business establishment and shops within the Kohima Municipal Council are yet to adhere to the compliance. Considering the difficulty and shortage, the fire extinguishers can be acquired nominal charges at KMC office during office working hours. Compliance with this order must be completed within one month from the issue of this order, according to a release issued by Zapuno Sophie, Chief Executive Officer, KMC. The immediate attention and adherence to this directive is crucial for the safety and welfare of our community, Sophie added.
KPC, DPC condole demise of Khemtsa Seb Rengma
Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) and Dimapur Press Club (DPC) have expressed grief over the demise of Khemtsa Seb Rengma, father of Samuel Seb Rengma, a journalist with The Morung Express, who passed away on September 28, 2025 at Eden Hospital, Dimapur.
In a condolence message, the KPC stated, “We express our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and wish them strength, courage and peace during this difficult time. To our friend & colleague, Samuel Seb Rengma, we pray that the departed soul of your beloved father rest in peace.”
The DPC, in its condolence note, said it was “saddened to learn of the demise of Khemtsa Seb Rengma, father of Samuel Seb Rengma, video journalist with The Morung Express.” It further stated, “We extend our sincere condolences to Samuel and his family during this time of grief. May they find strength, and may the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”
Both clubs expressed solidarity with Samuel Seb Rengma and his family during their bereavement.
CWA mourns
Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) mourned the sudden demise of former wrestler Khriine-o Dozo of Thiivopisii village, who passed away on September 27 at Thiivopisii under Phek district. Late Khriine-o Dozo represented CWA to Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) meet in 2002. Conveying deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and dear ones, CWA president Vezohu Ruho and general secretary Kukhoto Venyo prayed that Almighty rest his soul in eternal peace.
Kohima New Changsü Union condemns
KOHIMA, September 27 (MExN): The Kohima New Changsü Union has expressed its deepest grief and strongest condemnation over the tragic and mysterious death of Zuchanbemo Tungoe, Constable (DEF Tuensang, attached to Crime Branch, PHQ Kohima), whose lifeless body was recently recovered under suspicious circumstances at the Kohima–Pfuchama road in Lerie Colony, Kohima. In a statement issued, the Union said late Tungoe, a native of New Changsü Village under Wokha district and resident of Lerie Colony, leaves behind his young wife and their five-year-old daughter. As the sole breadwinner of the family, “his untimely and brutal death has caused immense pain, insecurity, and irreparable loss to his loved ones,” it stated. It urged “a thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation; swift arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators; immediate relief and long-term support for the bereaved family; and transparency and accountability from the investigating agencies.”
