The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Zunheboto, under Mission Vatsalya (Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland), organized a one-day awareness and sensitization programme on May 7 at Lazami Baptist Church. The session covered the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and legal adoption procedures under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Ruzonuo Rita Aye, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Zunheboto, explained the provisions and penalties under the Child Marriage Act, highlighted key features and reporting mechanisms of the POCSO Act, and elaborated on the legal adoption process. The programme aimed to raise awareness on child protection laws and promote child safety, welfare, and rights within the community. Heili, Women Pastor of Lazami Baptist Church, chaired the event.

International University, Nagaland hosted its 12th Annual Fashion Show 2026 on May 7, organised by the Department of Fashion Technology. Centred on the theme “Nature Revive,” the event highlighted sustainability and the link between fashion and nature, with students presenting collections inspired by rebirth, tradition, resilience and environmental harmony. Prof Zavise Rume delivered the welcome address and launched the lookbook. The show featured choreographed designer presentations, musical performances, and artistic preludes. Notable collections included Whisper of the Wave, Old to Gold, Blooming Tides, Second Skin, and Verdant Rebirth. The winners were: Best Garment Construction – Kevisano, Best Creativity – Katijungla, and Best Design Collection – Thejakhonuo. The vote of thanks was given by Thejaseno Chusi.
Jubilee Memorial School, Mokokchung organised a thanksgiving programme for ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) achievers on May 8. Sentinenla, District Education Officer (DEO), Mokokchung, the guest of honour, encouraged students to pursue excellence in academics, character, values and service. Special Guest Apongti Changkiri, Chairman, Board of Governors, urged the students to “dream big and remain committed to their goals.” School toppers were felicitated where Lendina Longchari (ICSE, 92.8%) and Medemsenla Pongen (ISC, 98.25%), shared their experiences and thanked their teachers, parents, and the school. Subject toppers and teachers were also recognised. The school announced a 100% pass result in both ICSE and ISC board examinations.
A felicitation-cum-thanksgiving programme was organised by Ministers' Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima, on May 7 at Ministers' Hill Baptist Church. HSLC toppers Gourav Singha (14th rank) and Rukutho Kotso (17th rank) were felicitated with cash awards and citations. Viky Kumar Shah was also honoured for securing the state's highest marks in English. The Tsito Nakhro Memorial Award (HSLC) and Kanato Memorial Award (HSSLC) were presented to Gourav Singha and Kesho Kent, respectively. Principal In-charge Samir Thapa addressed the gathering, encouraging the students. A congratulatory message was delivered by Er Visekholie Nakhro on behalf of the School Managing Board, and a blessing prayer was pronounced by Pastor Khrienuo Khana of MHBC Mission Department.

The Department of Teacher Education at Unity College, Dimapur, organised a Drama and Art exhibition on Friday in collaboration with the Women Cell. Themed “Beauty of Drama and Art: Where Logic Ends,” the event aimed to enhance professional competencies of future educators. Supervised by Asst Professors V Uto Chishi and Akup Buchemhu, second-semester students showcased creative works. Chaired by Asst Professor Neikerheno Secu, the programme featured reflections by Chubarenla and Benito L Shohe, and performances including “Back to Roots,” “Savitri Bai,” “Theatre of Cruelty,” a flash mob, and the concluding act “Ghar Bakri Toofan.”
