Nagaland Pencak Silat team wins 35 medals

Pencak Silat players from Nagaland who won medals during the NE Pencak Silat Championship.

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 6 (MExN): Members of the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association won 19 Gold, 3 Silver and 13 Bronze Medals in the recently held 3rd North East Pencak Silat Championship held at Dhekiajuli, Assam from February 1 to 3. 

Khevishe Sema, President, Nagaland Pencak Silat Association honoured the players with certificate and cash award and urged them to march simultaneously in Sports and Education to excel in life.

The Gold medal winners in Tending (Sparring) competition were Kevin, Tiayanger Imsong, Zouzam, Jon, Imnatoshi Longkumer, Poonish Chhetri, Tovi Sema, Altab Uddin Choudhury, Chithuyio Kajisho, Liike Kibami and Akivito Zhimo.

The Silver Medalalist include Rachel Kikon and Vitope Sheqi while the Bronze medal winners were were Avikali V. Sheqi, Hinokali, Nasher Uddin Choudhury, Asa V. Chishi, Ritodeep Bhattacharjee, Manish Chhetri, Alono Awomi, Hridhinandan Bhattacharjee, and Shreya Das.

In Tunggal Event (Individual Pattern) the Gold Medalist were Luke Kibami, Manish Chhetri, Kevin, Hridhinandan Bhattacharjee. Silver Medal was bagged by Poonish Chhetri and Bronze Medal by Tiayanger Imsong, Jon, Alono Awomi and Altab Uddin Choudhury.

In the Regu Event (Group Pattern) Gold Medal was bagged in Pre Teen Girls Category by Zouzam, Rachel Kikon and Shreya Das; in Sub-Junior Boys by Akivito Zhimo, Chithuyio Kajisho and Ritodeep Bhattacharjee; in Junior Boys category by Kevin, Nasher Uddin Choudhury and Manish Chhetri; and in the Senior Boys category by Tiayanger Imsong, Altab Uddin Choudhury and Asa V. Chishi.

The state team was led by Master Deep Kumar.
