Kohima, June 23 (MExN): District authorities in Peren and Wokha reviewed immunisation activities and preparations for upcoming health campaigns during separate District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI) meetings held on June 23.

In Peren, the District Task Force Immunisation (DTFI) meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru focused on measurable indicators to curb diarrhoea and improve Measles-Rubella (MR) immunisation coverage.

During the meeting, R Khartu Monsang, RPO, UNDP, highlighted that the district had achieved 80% success in Measles-Rubella and routine immunisation coverage.

District Programme Officer (UIP/RCH), Dr Valentina Neikha, outlined the objectives of the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2026, which aims to promote the use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc among children with diarrhoea, strengthen awareness on prevention and management of the disease among caregivers, and work towards eliminating child deaths due to diarrhoea through a multi-stakeholder approach.

DC Meru urged departments to strengthen information dissemination and intensify awareness on the benefits of MR vaccination. He also called for the reactivation of village-level mechanisms to ensure greater community participation.

DPO Thungchanbeni Patton briefed the meeting on awareness strategies, while officials informed that 193 vaccination booths would be set up across the district, including in town areas, blocks and Bhandari subdivision.

Mobile teams and transit-point vaccination units will also be deployed to reach children in high-mobility areas.

DC Tsanglao appealed to all communities and departments to extend support for the successful implementation of the campaign, according to the State DIPR.
