Pfutsero, April 12 (MExN): A Nagaland University inspection team visited Pfutsero Government College in Phek district on April 11 to assess its readiness for upgradation to offer the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) from the upcoming 2026–27 July–December academic session, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The inspection team comprised Prof Pum Khan Pau and Prof Suresh Kurapati. During the visit, the team held interactive sessions with the principal, faculty members and students, and carried out a ground inspection of the new college campus, infrastructural facilities, faculty strength and institutional best practices.
Pfutsero Government College, an arts college under the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland and affiliated to Nagaland University, currently offers honours courses in seven subjects — Economics, Education, English, History, Political Science, Sociology and Tenyidie.
The college has an enrolment of 353 students for the academic year 2025–26.
Officials said the institution is also in the process of introducing science honours courses, with a science building currently under construction at the new campus. The inspection was part of the university’s evaluation process to ensure institutions are equipped to implement the FYUGP framework under NEP 2020.
