KOHIMA, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) conducted its 3rd Referee Clinical Camp on March 1 at the Multi-Purpose Hall ‘B’ of Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima. The camp, which focused on updating participants on new rules and systems for Naga wrestling, was organized in preparation for the upcoming 15th NWA Open and 1st Women Open Naga Wrestling Championship, scheduled for March 28, 2025, at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground).
The event was attended by members of the Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board (NWRB), with over 15 participants, led by NWRB Convenor Kezhalelie Keretsü. Representatives from three NWA-affiliated units — the Angami Sports Association (ASA), Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), and Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) — were also present, along with officials from five provisional units: Lotha Wrestling Association (LWA), Pochury Wrestling Association (PWA), Rengma Wrestling Association (RWA), Sumi Wrestling Association (SWA), and Chang Wrestling Association (CWA).
The camp focused on key aspects of wrestling refereeing, including point allocation, penalties, and the technical system of judging. Participants were engaged in both theoretical and practical sessions, with the entire NWRB membership taking part in the practical demonstration.
The event was opened by NWA Treasurer Keneilel Kevin Rote, while Technical Secretary Vekhriyi Chüzho provided an overview of the updated rules. NWA President Vivolie Kezo delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of keeping up to date with the latest rules. Kezo expressed satisfaction with the turnout, particularly from newly formed provisional associations, and extended an invitation for them to participate in the 15th Open Naga Wrestling Championship.
