The quick estimates released by the Directorate stated that the increase in the General IIP was mainly driven by improvements in the manufacturing and electricity sectors.

The Manufacturing Sector Index increased from 371.05 in February 2026 to 530.24 in March 2026, registering a year-on-year growth of 59.52% over March 2025.

However, despite remaining at a high level, the Mining Index marginally declined from 1170.79 in February to 1160.59 in March. Nevertheless, the sector recorded a 107% increase over the corresponding month of the previous year.

The report further stated that, at the item level, all products except wheat flour and timber/wooden planks registered positive growth during March 2026 compared to the same month last year.

According to the Directorate, the IIP for Nagaland is compiled using the 2011-12 base year. Manufacturing data are collected directly from producing factories, electricity data from the national power portal, and mining data from the Directorate of Geology and Mining.
