Nagaland Baptist Church Council
The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) earnestly calls to join together in Corporate Prayer on Sunday, October 4, 2026, during Community Worship or in Respective Homes and Places. At a time when our state is witnessing serious concern over alcohol-related deaths and the harmful effects of illicit and suspected spurious liquor, let us not respond only with words, arguments or blame. Let us come before God in humility and prayer. Let us continue to pray for grieving families, for those who are suffering, for our young people, for civil society and community organizations working to protect our people, and for all authorities entrusted with the responsibility of upholding the law.
Alcohol consumption has brought serious consequences to individuals, families and communities. It can affect physical and mental well-being, relationships, family life, personal responsibility and the future of our young people. The recent deaths and illnesses reportedly associated with suspected spurious or adulterated liquor have once again reminded us of the seriousness of this concern and the value of protecting human life. As followers of Christ, we are called to care for one another, to protect life, to uphold what is good for our families and communities, and to pray for the well-being of our land. The Church has a continuing responsibility to pray, to speak for the protection of life, to strengthen families, to educate our people and to stand for what is good and wholesome for society.
Therefore, let us pray and seek God's mercy, wisdom and intervention for individuals and families affected by alcohol, for those working to protect our communities, for our churches, and for the State Government and authorities entrusted with the responsibility of upholding and enforcing the law.

1. Pray for Awareness and Wisdom Regarding the Harm of Alcohol: “Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.” (Proverbs 20:1) Let us pray that our people will understand the physical, emotional, social and spiritual consequences of alcohol consumption. Pray that individuals will make wise choices and that families and communities will have the courage to speak honestly about the destructive effects of alcohol.

- For greater awareness of the dangers of alcohol.
- For people to choose life, health and responsible living.
- For people to be protected from alcohol-related influences.
- For individuals struggling with alcohol dependence to receive help, strength and restoration.
2. Pray for the Bereaved Families: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) Let us remember before God those who have lost their lives in the recent alcohol-related tragedies. We express our deep sorrow for the lives lost and pray particularly for their families, children, parents and loved ones who are grieving.

- Healing for those who are hospitalized or suffering from alcohol-related illness.
- God's presence and comfort for all those affected by these tragedies.
3. Pray for Civil Society, Student Bodies and Other Organizations Working to Protect Life: “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18) Let us thank God for the various organizations, student bodies, civil society groups, community leaders and enforcement personnel who are taking steps to address the dangers associated with liquor. Pray that their efforts will remain peaceful, responsible and directed toward protecting human life and the well-being of society.

Pray for the Church to Remain Faithful in Prayer and Ministry: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16) Let us pray that the Church will not become silent or indifferent in the face of suffering. May our churches continue to pray, educate, counsel and care for individuals and families affected by alcohol. May we respond not with condemnation, but with truth, compassion and Christ-like concern.

5. Pray for the State Government and Authorities: “For the king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.” (Proverbs 21:1) Let us pray for the State Government, legislators, administrators, police, Excise and Prohibition authorities, and all those entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the people and implementing the law. - For young people to grow up in healthy and safe communities.
- For freedom from alcohol-related addiction and destructive habits.
