NECU conducts seminar on immunization excellence

DIMAPUR, JULY 3 (MExN): The Faculty of Nursing at North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur, organised a two-day national online seminar on "Immunization Excellence" from June 29 to 30, bringing together 293 healthcare and nursing delegates from across the country.

The seminar focused on strengthening participants' knowledge and practical understanding of immunization through expert-led sessions covering immunology, national and global immunization schedules, cold chain management, management of adverse events following immunization (AEFI), and strategies to address vaccine hesitancy.

The organising committee comprised Dr Athuo Saziini, Kapuw Kaini, Apao Hravine Neha and Yhunsinle Tep.

The resource persons included Dr Seyie Rutsa, Prof Deena E, Prof L Lidziisa Mao and Khangembam Subita Chanu, who conducted sessions on advanced injection techniques, evidence-based approaches to counter vaccine misinformation, and patient-centred communication to improve vaccine acceptance.

The seminar also incorporated interactive digital learning tools, including Kahoot!, to engage participants throughout the programme.

The release stated that participants who successfully completed the post-test evaluation were awarded professional e-certificates at the conclusion of the seminar. It added that the programme aimed to enhance the competencies of healthcare professionals and strengthen regional public health preparedness through improved immunization practices.
