Zunheboto, October 27 (MExN): Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Observer for Zunheboto, Asangla Imti, IAS, has called on political parties and election officials to work in close coordination to ensure clean, accurate and error-free electoral rolls.

Asangla Imti, Commissioner and Secretary of School Education and SCERT, made the appeal during an interactive meeting with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and representatives of recognised political parties at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Zunheboto, on October 27. She said an accurate electoral roll was fundamental to free and fair elections and urged political parties to actively participate in the revision exercise and coordinate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to identify and rectify discrepancies.

Stressing the need for shared responsibility, the SIR observer urged stakeholders to focus on the common objective of maintaining accurate electoral rolls rather than engaging in mutual blame. She said effective coordination, transparency and active participation were essential to the success of the exercise.

During the interaction, Asangla Imti sought feedback from EROs on objections, additions and deletions in the electoral roll and asked them to address the matters diligently. She urged officials to approach the SIR exercise as an important responsibility rather than a burden, calling for commitment and dedication in its implementation.

She also called on AEROs to provide proper guidance and support to EROs across the district to ensure the smooth implementation of the revision process. Encouraging officials to adopt a proactive approach, she stressed the need to explore practical solutions to challenges in preparing a clean and comprehensive electoral roll.

In his welcome address, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Dharam Raj, IAS, welcomed the SIR observer and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among election officials and political parties for the successful implementation of the revision exercise.
