Family members of late Shokiye Kibami, along with the faculty of NECU during the dedication of the Shokiye Seminar Room on March 20.
Dimapur, March 20 (MExN): North East Christian University (NECU) on Friday inaugurated the Shokiye Seminar Room in a ceremony attended by faculty, church members and well-wishers.
The dedicatory prayer was offered by Z K Rochill, while the programme was chaired by Director (Academics) Kangzangding Thou.
Short speeches were delivered by Pro-Chancellor Darlando T Khathing, Director of Operations Huzo Meru and Rochill.
The seminar room has been named after late Shokiye Kibami, regarded as the first physiotherapist from Nagaland. The facility was funded and furnished by his daughter, Khehuli Kibami, in memory of her father.
Family members, including his wife Akheli Sema, daughter Khehuli Kibami and son Samuel Sema, shared reflections on his life and contributions, highlighting his role in society and church ministry.
They described him as a compassionate caregiver whose values of perseverance, benevolence and commitment to faith enabled him to serve and heal many, adding that the programme celebrated his legacy and encouraged others to lead exemplary lives.
The Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church (DSBC) choir and Coloured Keys presented special songs during the event, which was attended by family members, including grandchildren, as well as church members and well-wishers.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Chibenthung Yanthan, while the benediction was pronounced by Narola Inchen.
