Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): The North East Christian University (NECU) conducted a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program on Saturday, equipping students with practical skills to enhance their entrepreneurial and career prospects. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes vocational training alongside academics.

The program featured five specialized workshops focusing on food processing (baking, pickle, and jam making), soap making, sheet metal and woodwork, and solid waste management. Participants were encouraged to develop entrepreneurial ventures rather than rely solely on traditional employment.

Er. Kapil Thapa, Director of PM & HR at NECU’s Capacity Training Centre, emphasized that academic degrees alone do not guarantee success. "A degree is a tool, not a golden ticket," Thapa said. "Students must apply their knowledge practically and explore interdisciplinary opportunities."

Er. Awalo Keppen, Manager at the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC), echoed the need for adaptability in today’s evolving job market. He stressed the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset to navigate rapid industry changes.

The event was organized with support from NECU’s administration, faculty, and students, along with technical assistance from NTTC. NECU continues to offer free career guidance at its Burma Camp campus, helping students explore scholarships and academic programs designed to prepare them for the workforce and entrepreneurial ventures.
