MALIGAON, APRIL 11 (MExN): Reinforcing its commitment to quality healthcare, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) organised a Neonatal Resuscitation Programme (NRP) at Central Hospital, Maligaon, on April 9. The training initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and the National Neonatology Forum (NNF), under the aegis of the ‘First Golden Minute’ Project — a national effort aimed at improving neonatal outcomes through timely resuscitation.

According to a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR, the programme sought to empower healthcare personnel with essential skills and knowledge to manage newborn emergencies, particularly within the critical first minute after birth. By addressing this crucial window of care, the training aims to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality, while strengthening the capacity of medical staff to respond effectively to life-threatening situations.

Altogether, 16 healthcare professionals participated in the session, which included hands-on training and simulation-based learning modules. The interactive approach helped bolster the confidence and competence of medical staff, ensuring a higher standard of care for newborns within the NFR health system.

Central Hospital, Maligaon, has also made strides in enhancing paediatric services, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for specialised care. The recent introduction of dedicated paediatric departments complements ongoing efforts to expand medical infrastructure and patient services.

In a broader push towards holistic healthcare, NFR inaugurated AYUSH and RELHS clinics in January 2024, along with upgraded dormitory facilities for patient bystanders. The integration of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) under the Digital India initiative further reflects the organisation’s focus on efficiency and service quality.
