Tseminyu, February 23 (MExN): The newly constructed IPR Office Building at Tseminyu was inaugurated on February 23, by Orenthung Lotha, Commissioner & Secretary, Information & Public Relations (IPR) and Cooperation, Government of Nagaland, who attended the programme as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Lotha described Tseminyu as a vibrant and unique district fortunate to receive such infrastructure. Calling the new establishment one of the best departmental offices among the districts, he encouraged citizens to make optimal use of the facility. He expressed gratitude to former Advisor IPR Late Imkong L Imchen and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for their support in realising the project.
Highlighting the importance of the upcoming census, he appealed for accurate and truthful data submission, stating that census figures form the foundation of policy-making and development planning. Incorrect information, he cautioned, could deprive the public of rightful benefits.
Lotha underscored the department’s responsibility in disseminating responsive, accurate and well-verified information to the public and the media. In the era of social media, where information spreads rapidly, he stressed the need for the government to communicate constructive and verified information through print, electronic and digital platforms.
He also informed that the government is planning to establish the Nagaland Integrated Information System, under which Tseminyu will function as one of the information hubs. The system will gather data from various departments under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner and district administration to ensure public access to reliable information.
Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, Japhet Woch, NCS, appreciated all stakeholders for the timely completion of the project. Referring to the district’s formation, he said several infrastructure projects had been initiated, including the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, SP Office and staff quarters. He noted that the IPR Office building was completed in record time due to dedicated contractors and timely fund release.
Urging departments to function proactively as a full-fledged district, he called for generation of accurate data and meaningful engagement for effective governance, cautioning against misinformation in the age of social media.
The programme was chaired by Atuzo Peseyie, District Public Relations Officer, Kohima, who acknowledged the proactive initiatives of Director IPR Dzüvinuo Theünuo and Commissioner & Secretary Lotha in addressing district office needs. Assistant Director IPR Meghasha Tep presented the district profile, while Pastor Yhunthonglo Khing of Tseminyu Town Baptist Church offered the dedicatory prayer and Yhunbwenle Tep presented a special song.
Director Dzüvinuo Theünuo, senior IPR officials, ADC Tseminyu Mhomo Tungoe, IPR staff, contractors and other guests attended the programme.
