NPF reaffirms Naga integration as ‘topmost priority’

ECI accepts merger of regional parties

Kohima, February 23 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has asserted that its commitment to Naga integration remains the party’s topmost priority.

Addressing an orientation programme for legislators and party leaders at the NPF Central Office on Monday with the theme “Insight on Government Departmental Activities and Constructive Role of Party Leaders,” the Secretary General and MLA Achumbemo Kikon announced that the Election Commission of India has officially communicated its acceptance of the merger.

Kikon emphasised that with the recent merger of Naga regional political parties, the NPF must strive to do its best. “The party should act as a channel between the government and the grassroots people,” he said, urging leaders to be well-equipped to fulfill their responsibilities.

Reaffirming the party’s longstanding position, Kikon stated that the NPF remains committed to the Naga political issue, with Naga integration as its topmost priority. “The NPF stands beyond statehood,” he added.

He appreciated Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent assurance to take the Naga political issue to the ministerial level. He further stressed that as the regional party has now become a larger family, it must work in accordance with people’s expectations.
