Nagaland Agriculture Advisor Mhathung Yanthan on Thursday inaugurated a newly constructed Primary Health Centre (PHC) building at Old Aree Village during his official tour of the Sungro Range.
The facility was built under the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) by Ngaza Buildcon Private Limited.
According to reports, the previous PHC building at Old Aree had fallen into a dilapidated condition and was operating from a temporary location prior to the construction of the new facility. The new building was constructed by Ngaza Buildcon Private Limited.
Addressing the gathering, Yanthan said Aree, being a remote and one of his aspirational villages, had an urgent need for a proper healthcare facility, prompting the initiative under LADP.
Following the inauguration, a general meeting and review of the implementation of various government schemes and programmes were held. Heads of Departments from different sectors attended the programme with the objective of bridging the gap between government departments and the public.
Speaking at the meeting, Yanthan encouraged villagers to actively engage with departmental officials. He urged the public to make full use of the opportunity, noting that there could be no better occasion as representatives from various departments were present in the village through the initiative organised by the MLA.
He further encouraged villagers to remain inquisitive, ask questions, and avail themselves of government welfare schemes to improve their livelihoods and ensure sustainability. Yanthan observed that many villagers remain unaware of several welfare initiatives, which he said was one of the key reasons for organising the programme.
The dedication prayer for the newly inaugurated PHC building was pronounced by Pastor W. Kikon of Old Aree Baptist Church.
During his visit, Yanthan also visited Government Middle School, Old Aree Village, where he interacted with teachers and students. He distributed gifts to both teachers and students and also provided kitchen materials for use by the school.
